Resources » InspirationLost Your MOJO? Finding Ways For InspirationJuly 19, 2007 by Dolores Cancel How many times have you felt as though you’ve lost your MOJO? You just don’t feel up to scrapping. Your creativity has hone, and as much as you may try it’s just not there. Well you are not alone; I think we have all gone through this stage in our creativity. You wonder what happened to the person who could create anywhere from 5-10 projects in a month, and now you don’t even have the energy to create one project. How do you get it back?
The following are a few ideas that I’ve used in getting my MOJO:
1. Turn on your T.V. – Pay close attention to the commercials. Have you ever seen the GAP commercial, the colors are vibrant, and the doodling of swirls and flowers are inspirational. 2. Go to your bedroom and look at how each piece of furniture is placed. Okay now stop and look at the design, you now have a sketch to get you motivated. 3. Magazines – no not scrapping ones pick up a Better Homes & Garden, Good Housekeeping, or even a food magazine. Each of these magazines is designed to bring attention to the page. So pay close attention and now view the design in a scrapper’s point of view. 4. Go window shopping – Literally you can look at a window display and be inspired.
Here are some ideas from the Creative Team for finding inspiration:
Breana Arvin: “Losing my MOJO happens pretty frequent around here, in fact I just had a little loss just last week I really wanted to scrap and needed my MOJO back so I cleaned my space.” - Decided on pictures and then pulled out my Ali Edwards book, just looking at the simple lines and awesome photos got the ideas flowing. - Blogs or the AEzine, the gallery at Creativity Boutique gives me a lot of inspiration as well as Sketch websites such as pagemaps. “Of course my itunes is almost always on John Mayer in this little rut I have.”
Hera Frei: “Would you believe when I can’t get a page to work, I bake!! After scrapping, baking is my next favorite thing to do” - Time allowing I go flick through my recipe book, bake a cake and while it’s cooking I go back to my LO. - Take a break is my MOJO Motto!!!
Amy Coose: “I usually float through galleries to get inspiration. I also am a huge fan of pagemaps”
Krystn Hussey: “I browse through pages I’ve earmarked in scrap magazines
Debbie Fitzgerald: Participating in challenges is great for getting the MOJO working. Another great sketch site is Pencil lines.
Carrie Castillo: “When I lose my MOJO, I look through magazines, Pottery Barn and Create & Barrel in particular. I look for cool color combos, even design layouts” - Also, when I lose my MOJO with scrap booking, I’ll do something totally different, like sew or take photos. I find that when I have photos I’m really jazzed about, the layouts come easier!
Hoping all these ideas are helpful when you feel you’ve lost your MOJO! |
