Resources » OrganizationSetting GoalsJanuary 03, 2007 by Tracy Marshall It's that time of year again - the time of year when people come up with their annual resolutions to make positive changes in their lives. Even scrappers make resolutions, whether they are to become more organized, to journal more, or to surpass the number of layouts completed in the previous year. Think about your own scrapping habits and you will probably come up with a few things you would like to change. Hopefully the following list of suggestions will help you achieve your scrap-related goals this year, whatever they may be …
1. Get organized. Ever notice how much easier it is to scrap when you know where to locate everything you need? Conversely, ever notice how frustrating it is to scrap when you know what you want, but can't find it? Have a proper place for all of your scrapping supplies and at the end of each scrapping session return things to where they belong. 2. Pre-plan. Grab your favorite pictures and then go through your stash. Pick out card stock, coordinating patterned papers, ribbon, embellishments etc. You could even use these items to supplement your KNK kits. Throw them all in a 2-gallon ziplock bag and you will be good to go the next time you sit down to scrap. 3. Does your paper crafting include card making? If so, get a calendar. Mark it up by identifying significant dates. Assess how many cards you will need/would like to make during each month and get an early start to ensure that the well wishes make it in the mail with time to spare. 4. Kids say and do the darndest things! You could probably write a book about it all, but you can't even write one paragraph about it because life gets in the way and by the time you sit down to journal, you've forgotten what was said. Keep a small notebook in your purse and simply jot down "Junior's" quirky quotes and kooky antics as they take place. 5. Ask yourself … How many layouts and/or paper crafts did you complete last year? Are you happy with that number? Did it stress you out to complete that many layouts or could you have easily done 10 or 20 more? How many do you hope to complete this year? How long does it typically take you to complete a layout? How much "free" time do you usually have to scrap in a week? Use the answers to these questions to help you set do-able goals. Anyone can make a resolution but making them realistic helps to ensure that you won't break them. |
