Making Your Own Epoxy Embellishments

July 19, 2007 by Carrie Castillo

Epoxy embellishments are so hot right now, but have you ever found yourself without JUST the right color or shape or size in a premade/store bought embellishment?

Autums Leaves has amazing epoxy shapes/designs, but all to often what I have in my stash doesn't match the theme/color/size.  I figured there had to be an easy solution...and there is.  Making your own!

You will need very few supplies, most of which you already have in your stash.

*Cardstock/Patterned Paper (depending on what type of embellishment you are needing)
*Dimensional Glaze (Diamond Glaze, Glossy Accents, Aileen's Paper Glaze, etc.)
*Punches or die cutting maching (such as a Quickutz)
*Xyron Machine (if you want to make the embellishment self adhesive)

Step 1:
Die cut or punch your desired shape out of cardstock or patterned paper

Step 2:
Run through Xyron machine if you desire.  Leave the shape on the waxy paper.

Step 3:
Using your choice of Dimensional Glaze, start 'filling' in the surface area of your die cut/punched shape.  Making sure you get the edges of your shape.  Be aware of any 'bald spots' in your design and fill those in with the glaze.  I have found that the less-is-more technique works well with this because you can always add more glaze, but too much...and you'll end up with a big, blobby mess.

Keeping the shape on the Xyron'd wax paper will help because after your dimensional glaze is dry, it will pop right off the wax paper and be ready for you to use!  But give your embellishment plenty of time to dry.
